Answering questions & another mask

If you have a rar. folder that you need to unzip. You can download a free trial of winRAR here. CNet has a very good record of safe downloads. It is a 40 day free trial. I downloaded it a couple of days ago and it worked great. When your 40 days are up, you can uninstall it from your computer and be back to normal.

Next... If you come to a texture that is just an image such as the Antique1 texture. Right click and copy it. This will copy the image to your computers clipboard. Open CS or Elements. Hit Ctrl N for a new document. Your computer will remember the copied size and make a new document to fit it. Once your new blank document is opened. Hit Ctrl V, this paste your image into the document. Now save in your texture folder.

Another thing; if you watch the video but you are working in Elements and don't have a layer mask button. Do This. Open a new levels adjustment layer. Click ok without making any changes. This now gives you a layer mask to paint on. Click on your mask to make sure it is activated and paint away. Or you can always use the blur method I mentioned in another post. Truthfully that is my favorite because then I can decide how much I need to blur. I like the control. :)

I made a few more clipping mask. Here is an example of what today's mask looks like.

You can download it here. sorry, time is up

Bummer - I just got the email as per the subscription and I'm like your first commenter - now file showing. I'm guessing because you fixed it that it has been taken down now?
I'm loving the masks and textures you've kindly made available to us newbies - thanks.

Thanks for another great mask and great info. Kimi. You have been on a roll girlfriend!

Also, I want to add that there is a program called Unzip Them All and if you google it you will find it. It is comletely free and will unzip rar and zip. Plus, it can do a whole entire folder for you so you do not have to individually unzip each one. Hope you like it.

Have a great weekend sweetie and thank you so much.

Hugs,
Jonni

Hi Kimi! First, thank you for all of the fun tips, techniques and freebies you so generously share with us :)

Second, I am a subscriber to your blog, but I haven't been getting your emails lately and only find out about your freebies by reading your posts at the Spraground... I just saw your "Photo Mask #5" post this morning and went to check it out right away - when I clicked on the link, a message came up that the file is empty, so I guess I missed the deadline again. This happened for mask #4, as well.

I will keep trying to see your posts in a timely manner - thanks again :)

Well Kim...I have to know what your "blue method" is for painting on masks since you say its your favorite!! (and probably the best way too!) Any chance you would share again since I am new to your great site?

LOL!!! it's a typo! Just me trying to do too many things at one time. =)

It is the "blur method"
the instructions are posted a few post down. The one with my daughter Holly.

I am a subscriber and I absolutely love your blog with all of your tips and freebies!!! You are an awesome photographer and I really hope to learn some things from you.

I am taking the JS class also and I am new to photoshop and all of these downloads etc. and while I think I've been doing pretty well, I do run into things I can't figure out. I've tried to download these textures, but after downloading them it says..."Windows cannot open this file. To open this file windows needs to know what program created it."

I read what you wrote about saving to my clipboard, but honestly I can't even find a clipboard on my computer! Feeling very stupid right now! :( I really want to download the Antique1 especially....I absolutely love it! Please help me!
kimi kreations said…
ok Debra...
Go back and read the part of the post that starts with "Next".

Your clipboard isn't something your really see. It is just there. When you see the large copy of the Antigue1 image, you will right click and pick copy. The rest of the directions are in the post.

The other part of your question. You may have downloaded a RAR. file. I gave the site to get a free program. But it may be something simple... right click on the object on your desktop. Choose "Open with" now pick your software. See if that will open it? then you just save it in your folder from there. :)

Kimi, you have been so generous with your wonderful clipping masks. I absolutely love this one! Thank you very much!

Kimi, thanks so much for your instructions...I hope I did it right! After I clicked ctrl N for new doc. the resolution was on 72, so that's what I saved the textures in....is that what the resolution should be or should it be 300? Sorry to keep bothering you with this!

Kimi - You just rock my world with all of your awesome shares and links. I really appreciate it. However, sadly - it does keep me from doing my laundry. :o) But I don't mind. LOL!

I just found your blog yesterday and have spent hours here today. I love your work - of course I signed up to be notified when you have a new post. I have visited many of the links you shared and have gotten tremendous information. I have CS3, but still do not know how to use it. I signed up for Jessica's photo editing course and got stuck on day 1. I need to and want to learn to do the kind of things you are doing with photos!

Thanks! I clicked on the link and will check out some of the CS parts of the site. You need to realize that I was not able to post the first time I tried Here, so I actually spent the time to go to my old gmail box so I could post. The messages go back to 2005 and there were over 56,000 of them. I am currently deleting and cleaning it out!
