Mr. DragonFly

Image
Click any image for a bigger view. When life gives you lemons... I made a special trip out today to take some pics of a bunch of red flowers I came across. Well, while uploading the images I was messing around instead of paying attention and none of the red flowers got uploaded. (sigh) So off in the car I go again this afternoon to retake the images. Only this time I come across this wonderful gentleman the DragonFly. He was waiting for me and he was very patient. Just a few days ago one flew by and I told my husband... you know, I have never taken a picture of a dragonfly. Some times things work out as they should. When you least expect it.... you get gifts! :) ~kimi~

Check out this free template!

Image
Click any image for a bigger view. This week for kimi's Kreative homework we downloaded a free template from KeepDesigning.com . It is really cool!! It comes in a PSD format. Once opened, you can hide all of the layers, then go back one at a time saving the individual pieces as PNG files. You will end up with a grunge border, a nice vignette, a scratch texture layer and a grungy banner to use as you like. Plus the download includes two really cool fonts. :) So check out the template and give a look as to how we are using it in this week's Kreative homework. Happy Tuesday! ~kimi~

Free Deckled Frame!

Image
Click on any image for a bigger view. I have a freebie today!! :) 3 deckled frames. One white, one tan. While working on the tan one to have an image to post, I added a drop shadow and some distressing... so I threw that one in also. (shown above) kimi Deckled Frames I think it works well with Kristen's chocolate photo. Hope you have a wonderful Thursday! ~kimi~

Holly's Prom Night

Image
Click on any image for a bigger view. I used a black & white action by Nicole Van . If you have CS3. Check her out!! And, my trusty chocolate filter. :) I am so in love with this picture of Holly. It was taken last night before they left for the Prom. To see her laughing and smiling with her friends... to see her growing up in front of her Mother's eyes. The pride I feel is overwhelming. This is my daughter Holly.... and I will love her always .

Turning your image into a sketch. Click any image for a bigger view. Click on any image for a bigger view. This week on kimi's Kreative homework we worked a tutorial that showed how to turn your image into a sketch. On the first image, I pretty much followed the directions. On Holly's I have to admit, I went a little off the path. :) I hope you come and play with us... HUGS!! ~kimi~

Sharpen using the "High Pass" filter

Image
Click on any image for a bigger view. This was one of those AAAhhhhhh moments for me, when I did it the first time. I hope you will feel the same. It works on Portraits. (but may be too harsh) It is Fantastic to use on flowers! Make a duplicate copy of your image. Ctrl J Highlight your new layer. Go to Filter, Other, High Pass. Yes, it will turn gray. If it is a high resolution image I would go around 8 or 9. Now here comes the fun part. Change your blend mode to soft light or hard light. WOW!! Try both and see which one works the best with your image. If you find the sharpening to be to severe, lower the opacity of the high pass layer. I would love to hear some feedback if you give this a try... Happy Weekend Everyone! ~kimi~
