I Just Love Textures!!

Taking this class has reminded me how much I truly love the look of textures added to an image. Being in the local camera club and trying to stay in line with the strict competition guidelines, I have forget my own style and have lost my way. NO, this won't make a 1st, 2nd, or even an honorable mention, but this is me!! How does that song go... I gotta be me!!

I just love how this image of Grace turned out. First because the look is soooo Grace. :)
You don't normally process an image of a child making a mad face. The parents want happy and big smiles. I do have to admit... she has come a long way as a Model. From the first time we had to send her Mom home to get some shots and then she cried because her Momma left he,r to the shots I did the other day, where I would say give me something fierce and I would get all these crazy poses. She is more comfortable with me now and unfortunately she is growing up. I am not sure when this was taken. I have so many images of her in my files. But I do promise in the next shot she was smiling once again.

Here is my image from today's lesson.

Kimi,

Between the free textures and video on texturizing, you are totally rockin'.

I just have to tell you, this is one of my favorite images of Grace ever. I believe that photography is also not about all smiles, it is about emotion and the emotion you are showing is amazing and gorgeous! You are such a talented lady and you would come in first place if I had a photo contest. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Hugs,
Jonni

Kim, I went to look at a couple of the downloads (the first two) and they downloaded as a RAR file, how do you use these files in Photoshop? I tried to open in photoshop but they wouldn't go.

Your photography is beautiful. Are her eyes really that green or did you work your Photoshop magic on them? Beautiful work. Thanks for all the freebies and lessons on textures. I'm also in the JS class and loving it.

I just love this image. I reckon photos should aide in letting others glimpse a moment of our life's story. We are never happy all the time and the moods captured help to tell others what we are like. Kids especially!

I am also doing JS class and love all the textures and added notes you are posting to help extend us even further. Keep up the great work and Be who you are and take the photos that reflect who you are in the photography world!

Beautiful, Kimi. I love the way you've picked out the colours in her skirt to match the font. It draws it all together so well. Thanks so much for the textures and masks. I used one of each in my last image.

Wow Kimi, you blog is amazing. I went to the site where you posted the textures (diviant art) and when I click on the download button it just downloads a picture not a file like in our frames class. Is this what it is suppose to do? I am new to textures so I am not sure what to do with the downloaded picture.

Thanks Tracy in AR

Kimi can you share how you got the wisps in her hair to show with the background. You did such a great job with blending the photo with the background.

Kimi, can you explain how to remove the texture from the layers using Photoshop Elements 7? I viewed Matt's tut on your site but I don;t think it worked for me because he was using a different version. I have just discovered textures and love them, but need step by step in removing them from faces, hands, etc. so it smooths out the skin. Thanks and your site is wonderful!
